Okay. We're going to use this thread so you can track the progress on the Hot Rod Challenge roadster "Extreme Make Over". Here's the car as we got it from Geoff and Belinda fro Te Awamutu Rod & Custom Club. It's a 27 T that was orginally built down in the South island back in the early 80's. If you have any more info then please let us know!

And Dyno Don, the fastest man on Herald Island, arranged for a set of bolts to put the engine together courtesy of Hylton Parker. Fantastic!

Day 1: Here is the crew that will be building the car. There are actually 3 students missing - they were surfing. Hey - we live at the Beach! They are all 7th formers at the Whangamata Area School and will be working on the car during their "Work Shop" lessons. We are planning to have the car finished mid March...

The upholstery has been removed and is ready to be sent to Meads Auto Trimmers & Upholstery in Matamata. Here Jake is removing the dome rivets from the top of the body. Rick is busy removing the windscreen and posts.

Day 2: The body was lifted off to reveal a traditional Kiwi style T Bucket chassis. Nothing of concern here - it just needs pulling apart and a bit of a de-grease, paint and detailing. The T Roadster body sitting on saw horses. Tomorrow it will be taken to Helmsie's Auto Restorations in Hamilton for a little bit of repair work and then a stunning paint job! This is the under dash wiring and guages. Not a lot here - but what is there needs one hell of a tidy up. Scott (Veedoubleyou on this board) - we're gonna need your help real soon to sort this out!

Day 3: The driveshaft is removed. The gearbox mounts are undone and transmission cooler lines disconnected. Out comes the gearbox! It has a small crack at one mounting point that will need repair. 20 years of grime and grease are all over the running gear and chassis. Time to bring out the chemicals....... The nearest hose was a fire hose! Did a great job and now we have some clean components to work with..... Notice the Ford Pop/Anglia in the background? It was donated to school but they feel it is a bit out of their league. Anyone interest? Send me an email info@beachhop.co.nz - it has a very good body, glass front panels that need work, on a chassis with a narrowed Falcon(?) diff. Offers!

Day 4: The front end is unbolted and removed. A piece of cake! And so is the diff...... Both jobs that the team did with no help or input from the teachers or Beach Hop team. Great stuff!
