TVNZ has declined to screen a program made about the Beach Hop. This won't cost them 1 cent - all we are asking is that if a program is made, then would they screen it. Jude Callen, head of this section, responded that event only had a "niche" appeal and they had to screen programs with a more broad appeal. Check out TVNZ's Charter www.tvnz.co.nz and click on "Charter" at the bottom left croner of the screen. We feel that Ms Callen's decision is competely against the "charter". Email her at jude.callen@tvnz.co.nz and tell her why you think she is wrong!

Yeah, I've read the charter, it clearly states TVNZ will; "maintain a balance between programmes of general appeal and programmes of interest to smaller audiences". If the Hop is for a 'niche audience' then it qualifies, right? This is a genuine reason for complaint. This will not go away unless we let it. Fill Jude's email inbox with your (polite) comments and see if we can have the decision reconsidered.

Man i was stoked , 305ci Chev and auto,Jag rear end and front as well, real steal or should I say real steel. I'll have to learn how to P/beat again. Who knows this time next Year I could be cruising Port Road instead of walking it.

Hi All! It is great to see so many Beach Hop supporters going into bat for us with TVNZ. The reply from Jude Callan is encouraging and we are following up to ensure this isn't just a white wash... PLEASE KEEP THE PRESSURE ON email TVNZ jude.callan@tvnz.co.nzAlso - have you completed the poll on our Home Page www.beachhop.co.nz - it is located under our sponsors logos. MONTY! Well done on the find of the year. Come on, tell everyone how you found it! Are you gonna buy it? If not, it would make a GREAT BH project car! But it will need a 10" roof chop. Them Essexs have ranchsliders for windscreens.. ;D Cheers, Noddy

YAH The Nodfather, Yep it sure was a find of the year, I just happened to walk into this place that I have worked beside for years to get some water for the ole D8 Hightrack bully and went up to the mezzanine floor to see the owner and low and behold there was this gem (all Steel) just sitting there so I asked him if he wanted to sell it and he said yes then had to ask his wife if that was ok,to which she said yes.(God Bless Her) and the price was right. No you can"'t have it for a BH car as yes I will be buying it but don't tell me Missus or i'll have to send you to the fishes. All we need now is a great BH Workshop eh!!! and a fridge full of Greens.
Cheers , The Rodfather

Yep - you would think so! Wouldn't it be a great program to follow Monster Garage?
Prime are now owned by Sky - who this week declinded to screen a Beach Hop feature........
So.... TV3 are our last chance and we are hoping to hear from them this week.....

LATEST NEWS!!!!
Jude Callen rang our Chairman this afternoon and informed him that it was a tough decision, but TVNZ WILL NOT screen a programme about the Beach Hop.
TV3 have not responded and are not returning phone calls. This is VERY frustrating....

The fact that sky owns prime doesn't mean prime wouldn't screen. it is still independent. also.. This Jude character needs to realize that she is now the laughing stock of the participants, spectators and businesses associated with the BH, as well as the people of Whanga! Also... There are other avenues... private coverage and onselling or even Triangle in Akl. I guess however in the long run it is their loss.

Hey!! How come if something bad happens or is negative to any part of this country the first ones to get it on the news ? TVNZ just happen to be there becauses they think it's news that everyone wants to see? . If you run a flower show and get 5000 people it gets aired, maybe we have too many people (75,000) and it's too much for them.

nahhh it's about Jude being a Judas to anyone associated with the BH. Obviously she rates the BH lower than the exciting series called Britain's worst diy.. gawd give me strength! is this really NZ?

Well it looks like we have struck out on all channels!
TVNZ - No Sky (including Prime) - No TV3 - No
TV3 rang Peter Stretch, our Chairman, on Friday and said they haven't seen any change in the festival and don't think ordinary New Zealanders would be interested in it.........
So there you have it!
